Leading historic race promoter Motor Racing Legends has unveiled a 2021 calendar with a larger UK-base than usual, including a new two-day end-of-season event on the Silverstone Grand Prix circuit.

Traditionally, the MRL race categories enjoy a pan-European schedule but the uncertainty over cross-border travel for 2021 has prompted a programme with four UK events and just one trip into Europe to the Spa Classic Six Hours in early October.

The MRL race series include Pre ’63 GT cars, the Stirling Moss and Woodcote Trophies for 1950s sports cars, Historic Touring Cars from up to 1990 and Pre-War Sports Cars.

The new Silverstone GP date on 30-31 October will build on the success of the hastily arranged one-day event last month.

The inaugural RAC Historic TT event was a resounding success and will now grow into a full two-day event next year.

Duncan Wiltshire from MRL said: “We are optimistic for next year, but we have taken the precaution of planning a more UK-focused calendar in 2021 to minimise the potential for disruption.

“We are also in discussions with MotorSport Vision with regards to supporting its Snetterton 70th Anniversary celebrations in August with a Motor Racing Legends grid.”

The provisional MRL dates for 2021 are as follows:

1-2 May Donington Historic Festival
12-13 June Thruxton Historic
30 July-1 August Silverstone Classic
1-3 October Spa Classic Six Hours
30-31 October Silverstone GP Circuit
