The Ricardo Tormo Circuit gave a nod to last week with some light rain to open proceedings on Saturday and there was little useful running to be done by the lightweight class. After around 20 minutes of dry but cold conditions, riders spent the rest of the time wandering down pitlane to figure out if it was worth having an outing on rain tyres. In the end they all decided against it and Deniz Oncu headlined the session with only 8 laps on the board and three hundredths of a second faster than Albert Arenas. However, with the limited running in FP3, there was no opportunity to affect the combined top 14, therefore we’ll see the championship leader in Q1 later on.

Despite finishing third in the session, Dennis Foggia will join Arenas in Q1, unlike Romano Fenati, Tatsuki Suzuki and Raul Fernandez, who completed the top six of the session and were already securely into Q2. Ryusei Yamanaka, Davide Pizzoli, John McPhee and Gabriel Rodrigo rounded out the top ten in the morning session, half a second off top spot and all due to feature in the Q1 session.

Although 20th in the FP3, Tony Arbolino’s FP1 benchmark remained the fastest time of the weekend and the Italian will also be joined directly in Q2 by the likes of Andrea Migno, Jaume Masia, Sergio Garcia, Kaito Toba, Ai Ogura, Niccolo Antonelli, Jeremy Alcoba, Celestino Vietti and Yuki Kunii.
