MotoE machines were the first to electrify Le Mans qualifying and after posting an early bid for pole, Jordi Torres had a long anxious wait ahead of him. However, the Spaniard did not need to worry as no rival was able to improve on his new all time lap record around Le Mans, although his advantage was eventually reduced from six to three tenths by championship leader Matteo Ferrari. The fastest man in a damp practice, Mike Di Meglio, managed to turn his speed into a front row start from third on the grid.
John Hook opens row two ahead of Dominique Aegerter and Niccolo Canepa, while championship contender Mattia Casadei has a tough mission later today, as he will be starting from the back of the grid due to a crash at turn 12 on his qualifying lap. Alex de Angelis also went down almost in tandem, at turn 8 on his outlap and will join the Italian at the back of the pack.
